Not my friend John who taught high school math for 40 years. Certainly not I.
baseball-reference.com uses this form for age: yy.ddd, which to them means two digits for years, then a period to separate, then three digits for days with leading zeroes. Example:
___________________________
No matter how much it may look like a decimal point, it's not. baseball-reference.com could have made it explicit as it did for the traditional form for height but it did not. baseball-reference.com could have done this:
Age: 51 years, 43 days
Why not be consistent and present height the same way: 6.01? Who the heck would figure that out?
I exchanged messages with someone at baseball-reference.com and the company seems very satisfied with what it's doing. That exchange was a result of this recent post:
Age can be misleading at baseball-reference.com Wednesday, September 2, 2015
