Should Yankee fans root for the Mets in the finals?

Should Chicago White Sox fans have rooted for the Chicago Cubs against the Mets?

Should St, Louis, Missouri Cardinal fans root for cross state rival Kansas City, Missouri Royals against the Mets?

Should New York Yankee fans root for the New York Mets against the Kansas City Royals in the finals?

Would Mets fans welcome the support of Yankee fans?

WARNING: Yankee fans should have a barf bag ready before reading the excepts form The Times:

Writing About — and Rooting for — the Mets
By MICHAEL POWELL OCT. 23, 2015 The New York Times

I am a sports columnist and a lifelong Mets fan ... rooted for a team that is intermittently good and most often bad...

... tears-in-the-eyes  ...

the Mets drafted and developed a flock of young pitchers ... more appealing than watching a wealthy owner suddenly purchase gobs of talent...

... the general manager of the Mets showed a deft trading hand this summer ...

... suffering fans ...

... Mets’ pepper pot manager, Terry Collins, a baseball lifer who has grown looser and funnier in the spotlight

I never met a Met fan who knew what he was talking about.

Do you want to be lovable losers (Metsies) or the destroyer of worlds?  Make up your minds.  The junk above from a Times writer is all too typical of the inconsistent and contradictory stuff spewed by Mets fans.

Through almost all of July weren't Met fans excoriating just about everyone mentioned above?  Owner, general manager, field manager, players, bat boy/girl, ball boy/girl?  Weren't Met fans lashing out in all directions?

I get that we all want to root for a winner but, please, show at least a little class.  Met fans are too inclined to cry in their beer while sipping champagne.

How long suffering can they be?

Expansion teams since 1961 in World Series. Saturday, October 24, 2015

This is the first year that both teams in the finals are expansion teams: New York Mets v. Kansas City Royals...

Expansion teams to reach the old World Series/finals and the years it took:

1969 Mets (won) 8
1973 Mets
1980 Royals (1969) 12 ...

Quickest to the finals: Diamondbacks, Marlins, Mets

Most often: Mets 5, Royals 4

2 championships: Mets, Blue Jays (consecutive) ...

Never in finals: Mariners (0 for 39)

The Mets won their first pennant (and championship) in the first year the Royals existed: 1969.  So the Mets have five pennants in 54 years, the Royals four in 47.  Mets every 10.8 years, Royals every 11.6.  Pretty close.

Mets and Royals are the most successful expansion teams since 1961.  May the best expansion team win in 2015.

The Mets have the most finals appearances for an expansion team, including the first two, and are tied for the most wins.  That's suffering?

And the junk about a rich owner.  The Mets have a rich owner who invested with crook Bernie Madoff and lost a lot of money.

Before that Fred Wilpon was trying to spend like the Yankees, just not doing it as well.  After Wilpon became cheap and was excoriated for that by Met fans.

It's not easy rooting for the Yankees.  Met fans are getting a little taste.

Metsies (not Cubbies) to battle Royals or Blue Jays. Baseball Armageddon? Friday, October 23, 2015

Behold the big bad Metsies. Let's go Metsies. Let's see how that plays.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.
