8 batters and starting each inning with top of order fix two dumbest things on the field.

Each of these two improvements will bring up the better batters much more often. Combined, they would improve MLB immensely.

8, not 9, batters fixes:

1. Pitchers batting.

2. Designated Hitter (DH), the "cure" for pitchers batting.

Starting each inning with the top of the batting order:

Batters 1, 2, 3 bat at least 9 times a game, at least twice what they now do.

I've advocated both for years. With MLB to negotiate a new contract with the players union, this is the time to press for fundamental improvement.

Designated FIELDER, 8 batters! Now that's entertainment! Sunday, December 27, 2015

Duh. It makes more sense for professional leagues than what they've been doing for 150 years.

It would give the better hitters disproportionately more plate appearances.

Who would oppose that? Pretty much every fan. Why? No good reason.

It makes at least as much sense as what they do now.
