Expressions of enthusiasm, even joy, have become angry.

When Tampa starting pitcher Chris Archer retired Yankee catcher Gary Sanchez with the bases loaded to end the 7th inning in yesterday's opener in Tampa, Archer exploded in a violent spasm near Sanchez who was running to first base. Another batter might have taken offence and a confrontation might have occurred.

We see it all the time in baseball, football and basketball. When players should be happy, they are angry. Why? In baseball this may be displayed with an arrogant bat flip after a homer or a primal scream with a face contorted in anger.

How did we devolve to this?
