What if basketball and football did not allow re-entry, like baseball?

Goodbye fast break. Hello stall. Defense would be very soft.

Football would be unrecognizable.

With 13 of the 25 people on a baseball team being pitchers, there are, depending on the conference, 3 or 4 substitute players, one of whom is the backup catcher, who will not be used unless the starter is injured.

If baseball allowed re-entry, it would be transformed. Now there are almost no decisions to make in the first five innings and 90% of those in the final four involve the parade of relief pitchers.

This is strategy? Tactics? Really?
