Restrict where fielders can stand? The horror. The horror.

The pitcher must be on the mound on the rubber. The catcher must be in his box. All the other seven fielders may be anywhere in fair territory when the pitch is delivered. Restricting where those seven may be is actually being considered because batters are too (fill in your own interpretation) to adapt to the shifting of fielders to locations where an individual batter hits the ball most often in a given circumstance. Hitting the ball is increasingly less frequent. In 2018 for the first time ever strike outs exceeded hits. Now that's a horror.
