Brian Cashman, come on. You know you want him. Hal Steinbrenner, ... you don't know much, so forget it. Go back to sleep.
Go get the guy! He's just sitting there. The Metsies are too dopey to sign Yoenis Cespedes. At least they have been and I hope that continues. I had preferred that the Yankees sign Justin Upton but the Detroit Tigers signed Upton despite the fact that he adds his righty bat to a righty lineup. Detroit understood the value.
Cespedes OPS+ 122 Born: October 18, 1985 in Campechuela, Granma, Cuba
Upton OPS+ 121 Born: August 25, 1987 in Norfolk, VA
The Yankees have three center fielders, so that's not a problem; Cespedes can play a corner. Right fielder Carlos Beltran (39 years old) has one year left on his contract, so Cespedes can replace him.
What, you say, don't the Yankees have the replacement for Beltran in their farm system: Aaron Judge? For the umpteenth time:
Judge: 260 PA in AAA: OPS .680; Born: April 26, 1992 in Linden, California
The Yanks can sit around and wait and see if Judge can get his AAA OPS over .700 in 2016. Or they can immediately sign Cespedes to a semi-reasonable contract. If Judge turns out to actually be the real deal, then they will have TWO corner outfielders who can hit 30 home runs each. Current left and center fielders Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury might not hit 30 homers combined. Come on. Who wants that? It's entertainment. Cespedes is entertaining.

Yes! But Hal has recently said that the Yanks don't need to have a $200 million payroll to win. This off-season has really made me wonder about Cashman and the Yankees' brain trust.
I hope I'm wrong and they rebound strong this season.
