I didn't hear the Yankee announcers even mention the one seed until after the game. The Yanks had already won the American Conference East division when Baltimore lost. By then the Yanks had a big lead. The Yankees still needed to win to finish one game ahead of AC West champ Oakland. Yanks were 5-5 v. Oakland but Oakland had a better conference record, which I am guessing was the next tie breaker.
But what if the Yankee game was close? Would attention have been paid to the one seed?
Sunday I expect the well rested Yankees to open the five game first round series against a depleted wild card winner, which will have all hands on deck to avoid elimination on Friday.
I do not expect both one seeds to be eliminated in round one as happened last season to the Yankees and Phillies. Most likely is that both one seeds will advance, likely by sweeping the opening round, which will give them an advantage in round two ... as I have been writing here since the new tournament format was announced in March.
