It's both basic and simple. Treat a trip to the ballpark like a trip to the amusement park and kids are OK with it. But try treating it like a baseball game, which they are expected to watch.
Tell me the last time you took a kid to a Major Baseball League (MBL) game and did not buy the kid anything at the game, including:
- food
- drink
- shirt
- cap
- whatever.
Try taking a kid, preferably by public transportation, to a game and not buying anything for the kid and prohibiting:
- electronic devices
- reading material
- playing in a swimming pool, kiddie baseball facility, etc.
In summary, try taking a kid to a game and having the kid sit for four hours and pay attention to the game. Rest room breaks are OK. Then tell me how it went.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
