Ichiro Suzuki: only lefty hitter with higher BA against lefty pitchers. Tuesday, March 26, 2013
Ichiro Suzuki, at least since 1950, is the only lefty batter with a higher batting average (BA) against lefty pitchers than against righty pitchers.

Yesterday during the third Yankee game of the season announcers Ken Singleton and Micheal Kay were discussing the fact that against a left handed starting pitcher Yankee manager Joe Girardi had benched the top two non-pitcher off season acquisitions, lefty batters Jacoby Ellsbury and Brian McCann. They also discussed lefty batter Ichiro Suzuki playing his first game of the season. Singleton did mention that Ichiro hit well against lefties but neither announcer seemed to have any knowledge of the research that I posted more than a year ago. Ichiro had a single in two at bats against the lefty Brett Oberholtzer and a double in two at bats against righty Brad Peacock.
