There's all manner of junk being said about Sunday's fight between Toronto and Texas. Jose Bautista was in the middle. There's plenty of blame to go around. The bottom line is that it all traces to a lack of leadership. Players are out of control. The only comment we hear from the commissioner is vague approval of anarchy.
Anarchy is not a form of communication. It's the opposite.
Commissioner Manfred, the A-Rod Slayer, helped put Alex Rodriguez in exile for an entire season. Yet Manfred lacks any policy or code of conduct for the players. Laws of the jungle prevail. Tradition and history reflect that but they don't make it acceptable.
