I have no idea if this trade makes any sense but it makes a point: why didn't Brian Cashman bundle his two relief aces for a young proven major league player or one "can't miss" major league ready minor league player?
Alex Bregman
Drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1st round (2nd pick) of the 2015 amateur draft.
Signed June 25, 2015. (All Transactions)
Debut: July 25, 2016 (Age 22)
Bregman has one hit (single) in 22 at bats with the Astros, so maybe he's not ready and maybe he can miss. But Brian Cashman didn't know that when he traded Aroldis Chapman the day Bregman made his debut.
And if Cashman knew he was going to also trade Andrew Miller, why didn't he bundle them for one mega minor league player instead of seven much lesser ones?
Just asking.
