Fred Lynn did something that is more impressive than what Kris Bryant just did. In 1975 Lynn was both MVP and Rookie of Year. People are doing back flips over the fact that Bryant was just named National League MVP for this his second season, after being Rookie of the Year in 2015. It's been mentioned that the only others to have done that are:
Cal Ripken AL 1982-1983
Dustin Pedroia AL 2007-2008
Ryan Howard NL 2005-2006
Ichiro Suzuki was also MVP and RoY in the same season: AL 2001. However, Ichiro has been an established star in Japan for several seasons prior. Fred Lynn was a true rookie.
But why have Lynn and Ichiro not been mentioned, especially Fred Lynn?
