Starting in 1985 the League Series, aka League Championship Series (LCS), aka semi-finals, expanded from best of five to best of seven. With one series in each of the two leagues, later conferences, that's 33 years multiplied by 2 = 66 series. Of those, 16 (24%) went the full 7 games.
In these 7 game (4-3) LCS the home team won every game twice:
2004 NLCS St. Louis Cardinals over Houston Astros; Cards swept in WS by Red Sox
2017 ALCS Houston Astros over New York Yankees: Astros lost WS game one to Dodgers in LA
2 of 16 (12.5%) LCS that went seven games had the home team winning all the games. The previous post listed the three times that a best of seven game WS had all seven games won my the home team:
1987 Twins over Cardinals
1991 Twins over Braves
2001 Diamondbacks over Yankees
38 of the 112 "World Series" went seven games: 34%. Compared to 24% of LCS going seven games.
percentages of series with home team winning all games:
total series:
WS: 3/112 = 2.68%.
LCS: 2/66 = 3%
series that went 7 games:
WS: 3/38 = 7.9%
LCS: 2/16 = 12.5%
Of the five series, both WS and LCS:
Twins 2-0
Yankees 0-2
Astros 1-1
Cardinals 1-1
Braves 0-1
Diamondbacks 1-0.
