Gary Sanchez failed to tag out Jose Altuve as Altuve scored the winning run in last night's Yankee 2-1 playoff loss in Houston. Altuve was a dead duck.
No, that's not the only reason.
1. Never have one of your best hitters be a catcher. Never. They take way too much physical abuse squatting needlessly behind the plate. The catching position should be eliminated.
2. Sanchez, despite a powerful throwing arm, is not a good catcher and seems to lack the interest to concentrate so much of the time.
3. Any catcher should be able to play third base, especially if he has the common sense to continue to wear his catcher's gear.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
