Giancarlo Stanton hit 59 home runs in the 2017 regular season. His contract with the Miami Marlins is both long and high. New Marlins owners have been trying trade Stanton. Multiple teams are interested in acquiring Stanton.
Conspicuous by their absence are the New York Yankees, who supposedly are trying to get under the team salary cap. The Yankees are also supposedly loaded with minor league talent.
And yet, not a syllable has been written or spoken about the Yankees adding Stanton to their 2018 roster. There was a time when this would have been unthinkable.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
