Brian Cashman has been the general manager of the New York Yankees for twenty years: 1998-2017. In recent years Cashman has been increasingly reluctant to acquire sluggers, none since 2010. Below is a matrix of them on the Yankees during Cashman's 20 years as GM. Will Cashman use some imagination and nerve and acquire 28 year old 59 home run hitter Giancarlo Stanton this off season?

Babe Ruth and Mark Teixeira are the only veteran players to join the Yankees and lead the league in home runs in their first Yankee season. Aaron Judge led with 52 as a rookie in 2017 after playing two months the previous season.

Alex Rodriguez and Roger Maris are the only veteran players to join the Yankees and be league MVP twice as Yankees. Rodriguez led the league in homers in Yankee seasons 2 and 4 and was MVP in both those seasons. Maris was MVP in his first two Yankee seasons 1960 and 1961.

Jason Giambi and Curtis Granderson are the only Yankees since Mickey Mantle in 1960 and 1961 to hit at least 40 home runs in two consecutive seasons. Rodriguez (54) was the first Yankee since Maris (61) and Mantle (54) in 1961 to hit at least 50 home runs in a season.
