That's how timid proposals are and even something that minor is cause for concern, such as damaging a pitcher's arm. Three inches. Three INCHES.
I've been advocating eliminating the mound and making the pitching distance the middle of the diamond, about 63.5 feet. It is currently 60.5 feet. 60 feet, 6 inches as it is commonly expressed.
That would mean moving it back three FEET. That would be noticed but not for long. It would seem natural and the old distance would become an odd historical anachronism.
Baseball is so stuck in junk that it doesn't even realize it, which will lead to catastrophe, probably sooner rather than later.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
