Harper: $21.6 million

Harper just signed a 13 year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies that has the most total dollars of any in baseball history: $330 million surpassing the $325 million 13 year contract (2015-2018) Giancarlo Stanton signed with the Marlins  who traded Stanton to the Yankees after his 59 home run, MVP 2017 season. However, the maximum annual for Harper is $27.5 million for seasons 2020-2028. Stanton will get $29 million for three seasons and $32 million for another three seasons. Trout will again get $34 million for each of the next two seasons, then become a free agent.

But this post is about where Harper ranks in batting for his seven major league seasons, which coincide with Trout's. Harper had dWAR (fielding) 1.5 as a rookie but his fielding numbers have been negative in four of his next six seasons, dropping to negative 3.2 in 2018.
