I'm not watching sports in 2020 but someone mentioned that the Yankees were getting clobbered by the Red Sox Sunday, September 20, 2020 and used their third string catcher, Erik Kratz, to pitch the final inning of the blowout. That makes sense. What makes more sense is for the team that has conceded to actually concede: end the game honorably and not as farce.
For those overly concerned with stats, which prevents them from making substantive changes, how about having a non pitcher allow a home run:
HR: J.D. Martinez (6, off Erik Kratz, 8th inn, 0 on, 1 out to Deep LF-CF).
Suppose that home run provided the margin for leading the league? Or for a record?
And with doubleheaders back so that this pathetic "season" can jam in as many "games" as possible, even if only 7 innings, if the blowout is game one of a doubleheader wouldn't it make sense to end that first game by conceding and getting on with the second game?
What the heck?
