Unfortunately, the team name it used does not represent the franchise. Simple example: Brooklyn Dodgers and Los Angeles Dodgers. More confusing: the St. Louis Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles.
Reminder: In the old 154 game schedule through 1960, there were seven opposing teams in each league playing 22 games against each other. That meant many more games against each team. So the career home run leaders against the original teams are dominated by players from long ago. In fact in the AL, Babe Ruth has the record against all seven opponents. But the reverse is also true. The Babe never played against the Colorado Rockies. Ruth has the only two totals over 100.
