Willie Mays hit four home runs in one game against the Milwaukee Braves in 1961. That helped Mays reach 12 homers against the Braves that season. Mays hit 40 home runs in 1961.
HR: Willie Mays 4 (6, 1 off Seth Morehead, 6th inn, 2 on, 2 outs to Deep LF, 2 off Lew Burdette, 1st inn, 0 on, 2 outs to Deep CF; 3rd inn, 1 on, 2 outs to Deep LF-CF, 1 off Don McMahon, 8th inn, 1 on, 1 out to Deep LF-CF); Jose Pagan 2 (2, 1 off Lew Burdette, 3rd inn, 0 on, 0 outs to Deep LF, 1 off Carl Willey, 4th inn, 0 on, 1 out to Deep LF); Orlando Cepeda (3, off Lew Burdette, 4th inn, 0 on, 0 outs to Deep CF); Felipe Alou (2, off Carl Willey, 4th inn, 0 on, 0 outs to Deep LF-CF).
