Mark Teixeira is still productive at the plate. Who knew? Not Yankee general manager Brian Cashman, who is probably the inside source for articles stating that Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez would be released so that Cashman could bring up unproven minor league replacements.
Cashman finally rid himself of Rodriguez last night. That will make it easier for Cashman to stop being obsessed with having given Rodriguez that huge contact in 2007 that extends through 2017. Why else banish Rodriguez rather than simply letting him remain into September when rosters expand? Instead, there was a week of pointless melodrama.
And Rodriguez even got a hit in his last Yankee game, which by definition means that Rodriguez can still hit.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
