Give the batting team the option on a walk to not only put a runner on first base but also have the walked batter get a fresh plate appearance (PA) immediately. This could also be done in other cases:
- Hit by Pitch (HBP)
- Catcher's interference
If the batting team decides to have its walked batter get another (PA), it would send a pinch runner (PR) to first base. This could be a player not in the game or a player in the game but not on base or on deck. If the pinch runner had not already been in the game, his status would remain as such. For a PR who had been in the game, that PR could be replaced as needed if his place in the batting order came up.
Stimulating, provocative, sometimes whimsical new concepts that challenge traditional baseball orthodoxy. Note: Anonymous comments will not be published. Copyright Kenneth Matinale
