Aaron Boone managing Yankees: team makes too many mistakes. No killer instinct.

Yankee manager Aaron Boone got  plenty of rope in his 2018 rookie season as a major league manager or coach. Boone had two talented rookies, Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres. But rookies make mistakes, as do other players. And yet, the Yankees won 100 games in 2018. Perspective, wins by other AL teams in 2018:
Boston 108
Oakland 97
Tampa 90
Baltimore 47

The Yankees just started the 2019 season by losing 2 of 3 to Baltimore. In the win both Yankee base runners were running when the infield fly rule was called, with the Yankee third base coach doing too little too late. What, if anything, was done about this particular mistake after the game? The next day when no game was scheduled?

In 2018 the Yankees won the wild card game against Oakland, which did not use a starting pitcher. The Yankees then lost 3 of 4 to Boston.

The 2018 Yankees set a record with 267 home runs. It would be pretty much impossible to give Boone credit for that.

Recent comments by Yankee team leader Aaron Judge may unintentionally suggest that the Yankees make too many mistakes and do not have a killer instinct. That may also be the view of many Yankee fans.

I want Aaron Boone to succeed. But after only three games in 2019 the Yankees seem to have the same problems as in 2018. The team does not seem to have been properly prepared in spring training and it's too late to correct that.

As I understand it owner Hal Steinbrenner felt that with all the money he was paying to general manager Brian Cashman and Cashman's smart analysts, the Yankees didn't need to also pay big bucks to the field manager Joe Girardi to be a push button manager, although not the same type as Hall of Fame Yankee manager Joe McCarthy. Girardi managed the Yankees 2008-2017. The only World Series the Yankees have won since 2000 was in 2009 under Girardi.

So, what's Joe Girardi doing?
