Happ had already pitched for the Yankees after they traded for him July 26, 2018. For the Yankees Happ pitched very well in the regular but not in the tournament in his only appearance, a losing start to the Red Sox.
The Yankees signed Happ ten days after Washington signed Corbin. Supposedly the Yankees did want to give Corbin the six years that Washington gave him. But in year six of that contract Corbin will be two years younger than Happ is now.
