You can't make up stuff like this. The hysteria all afternoon on MLB Network about the penalties against the Houston Astros is exemplified in multiple citations of a September 21, 2017 game in Houston against the White Sox.
Danny Farquhar
The seventh White Sox pitcher became suspicious in his single inning of pitching, the 8th, when he conferred with his catcher because the pitcher heard the Astros signalling to its batters by banging on a trash can. So much for technology. He retired all three Astros batters faced. This was the third game of a three game series.
Final score: White Sox 3, Astros 1.
Not much of an example of rule breaking that decided a game.
