3 Home Runs in a game: fewest HR that season (3), most.

17 of the 425 players to hit at least three home runs in a game 1904-2019 hit 6 or fewer in that season. One player hit only those three homers.

Cnt: Count of the number of 3 homer games
HRmax: most season home runs in a season with a 3 homer game
HRmin: fewest season home runs in a season with a 3 homer game

Sorted on HRmin ascending, then Year1 ascending. The Year1 is arbitrary and may not be for the HRmin year but it puts the records in something better than random order.

Drum roll for the guy with all three season home runs in one game:

Final game of the season:
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
Start Time: 7:06 p.m. Local
Attendance: 18,093
Venue: Progressive Field
Game Duration: 2:50
Night Game, on grass

HR: Dan Johnson 3 (3, 2 off David Huff, 2nd inn, 1 on, 0 outs to RF; 5th inn, 1 on, 2 outs to RF, 1 off Vinnie Pestano, 9th inn, 0 on, 0 outs to RF)

Both Huff and Pestano were pitchers, not a position player in a farce role of a meaningless blowout game. Innings career/season:
Huff: 393/26
Pestano: 202/70

Note Babe Ruth on the list.

Eight players did it through 2005 in their final season...

The great Bambino at age 40 and playing the first couple of months of his final season for the Boston Braves in the National League hit career home runs 712, 713, 714 in one game in Pittsburgh. After a few more games the Babe retired.

HR: Babe Ruth 3 (6, 2 off Guy Bush, 3rd inn, 1 on, 1 out to RF; 7th inn, 0 on, 1 out to RF, 1 off Red Lucas, 1st inn, 1 on, 1 out to RF)

Note: After the initial posting I was reminded that Jim Tobin was a pitcher. In 1942 he led NL in innings, losses and home runs allowed. He also hit six home runs, including three in one game.

20 players hit at least 49 home runs in a season with a 3 home run game. Sorted on HRmax, Year1:

Note Mize and Sosa with the most 3 home run games: 6. Mize hit 51 homers in one of those seasons: 1947. Mize is the only player to hit at least 50 home runs with fewer Strike Outs (SO) than home runs: 51/42.

In 1961 Willie Mays hit four home runs in one game and three in another but he hit "only" 40 for the season, which is why Mays is not on the list above. Same for Mickey Mantle: 37 home runs in 1955, the season with his one and only 3 home run game.
