Buck Showalter Explains Walking Barry Bonds With Bases Loaded Apr 25, 2018 interview above.

Thursday, May 28, 1998 ...

That was Showalter's first of three seasons managing Arizona. But here's the thing: Bonds probably started using performance enhancing drugs (PED) for the 2000 season. It's very doubtful Bonds was using back in 1998 when this happened. Consider that when evaluating the decision by Showalter.

Buck Showalter on Barry Bonds v. Gregg Olson in the youtube.com interview in the above post states that Bonds was "seven for somethin' with 3-4 home runs off Olson".

Except, that was completely incorrect! In his entire career Bonds was 2 for 4 against Olson: single and triple. And both hits occured after the May 28, 1998 game in which Showalter ordered Olson to walk Bonds with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning.

And Buck sounds so condescending in his interview.

Buck managed 20 years: Yankees, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Orioles.
