Why is the baseball field square? Eliminate the outfield corners.

Not the infield. The entire field. Why is it square, with corners way down each foul line? In some ballparks those corners are not visible to some fans in attendance.

Maybe the foul lines should start running parallel to each other at the edge of the outfield grass/infield dirt.

And push the home run distance down the lines back to the same distance as the rest. All outfield fences should be the same distance from home plate.

The corners randomly reward batted balls that are barely in play with extra bases.
