5,000 Plate Appearances (PA) would generally reflect ten full seasons, which would qualify the player for election to the Hall of Fame.
First basemen must hit well in order to play regularly. Center fielders much less so and shortstops much, much less so.
OPS+ >= 100: About twice as many center fielders as shortstops and about twice as many first basemen as shortstops. The easier the fielder position, the more the player has got to hit.
This is why SS Barry Larkin (116) is in the HoF but not 1B Don Mattingly (127).
