Don't "they" sometimes measure milestones by age? The youngest to reach ________ blah, blah, blah. They use other arbitrary stuff.
They also switch around. Example: OPS (an average) and OPS+ (a total)... to make a point.
Yesterday they were touting games:
Fastest to 300 Home Runs: Kiner v. Judge. Monday, August 5, 2024
Updated August 14, 2024. Judge hit career home run 300 in career game 955 tonight. Season homer 43.
______________________________
I read that Aaron Judge will best Ralph Kiner as the fastest to 300 Home Runs (HR) measured by fewest games, which seems crude. Staring at totals is bad enough but why compare career totals by games played?
Here are their numbers: Kiner through the game in which he hit #300 and Judge through today's game.
___________________________
That post showed that Aaron Judge hit 300 Home Runs (HR) in fewer games than Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner: 955 to 1,085.
It also showed that Judge had a better HR rate (AB/HR lower is better): 11.44 to 12.94.
Neither has any context, like whether HR hitting was more prevalent in Kiner's years (1946-1953 to #300) or Judge's years (2016-2014), both as of their respective dates of HR 300.
So let's look at career HR based on age. We'll ignore that Judge is much taller and heavier than Kiner was.

Judge is tied with Ryan Howard for #62. Kiner is #24. Note also Mike Trout at #22. Trout's birthday is August 7, 1991, so Trout is in his age 33 season. Only his HR through his age 32 season are shown.
Through age 32 season: 17 top players had twice as many Plate Appearances as Aaron Judge. Compared to the Yankees Mt. Rushmore? Wednesday, July 3, 2024
I'm a Yankee fan, so this is not meant to disparage Aaron Judge. It's meant to disparage the knuckleheads, including Yankee announcers, who celebrate in the extreme nonsense like HR in career games.
Right now Judge is American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP): leading in HR, RBI, BB, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, TB, IBB ... and GDP. Judge has 43 HR in 538 PA, 426 AB with 41 games to go. Judge should reach 50 HR for the third time in what is only his fifth season with at least 498 PA.
Number of times at least 50 HR (#60):
Ruth 4 (1)
Sosa 4 (3)
McGwire 4 (2)
Rodriguez 3
Judge 2 (1) could reach 50 a third time, maybe 60 a second time
Note that both Howard and Judge started their MLB careers at age 24. That's the oldest for any batters on this list. Kiner started late too; he is among four who started at age 23.

Rodriguez is the leader of the pack: 553 HR.
They are followed by 13 batters who started at age 19, including Mickey Mantle, who has the fifth most HR on this list.
Ott and Rodriguez are the only two with at least 2,000 games.
Howard and Judge are the only two with fewer than 1,224 games (McGwire).
