Proposed rule change: no inning can start more than three hours after the SCHEDULED start of the game.

Extra innings in regular season should be eliminated and games should be limited to three hours. Friday, February 14, 2025

How about no inning can start more than three hours after the scheduled start of the game, regardless of the number of innings played? Baseball is killing itself.

That was at the end of my previous post but I thought it was so good that it should be highlighted, especially the word SCHEDULED. It means that rain delays do not negate this rule.

regardless of the number of innings played:

A game can be complete in fewer than nine innings and it can be a tie. Standings could be determined by wins/(wins+losses). Ties don't count. But if it's something else, it's more important that the length of games will be not much more than three hours and that fans can count on that.

The previous post showed the time to complete game 7 of the 1960 World Series: 2:36. And the score was 10-9. Plenty of action in 2.5 hours. They even had TV commercials between innings way back then.
