1890-1902 New York home run leaders.

For these seasons the Brooklyn National League team joins the New York Giants. In the next post the American League Yankees will join. Since the Giants existed first, they are listed on the left, in the first position.

Only the team leaders are shown. A team could have multiple players with more home runs than the leader of the other team but they are not shown.

The Rank fields simply show the order: 1 or 2. Since the numbers are so low, there are several ties.

The tie fields: G or D means a tie among teammates. NY means a tie between the Giant and Dodger leader.

L is for league leader: G or D.

Bill Joyce tied for the Dodger lead in home runs in 1892 but two Giants hit more that year. In 1898 Bill Joyce played for the Giants and hit the most home runs in New York City. So Joyce led two different New York teams in home runs. Only one other player did that: Carlos Beltran: Mets and Yankees.
