Red Sox Fans, With a Title to Cheer, Choose the Yankees to Jeer

It did not take long for Red Sox supporters to get to the core of the matter. Within minutes of their team’s cementing its status as one of the best baseball clubs ever, fans at Dodger Stadium — in Los Angeles — began a seemingly incongruous chant.
“Yankees suck. Yankees Suck.”
Huh? What did the Yankees have to do with it? ...
Yet with all that joy and euphoria derived from winning the World Series on Sunday night, the happy fans celebrated by disparaging a team that was not even involved...
For Red Sox fans, it is always about the Yankees ...
And it is not a one-way street. During the Yankees’ celebration after they won their 27th World Series in 2009, fans were heard on a street corner chanting, “Bawston sucks.” ...
All Red Sox fans could come up with in retort was, “Yankees suck.” As juvenile as it was, it fit the mood nicely ...

New York fans hate the whole city. Who do we hate more: Red Sox or Celtics? Celtics, who have tormented Knicks fans since the late 1950s. Until 2004, Yankee fans were tormenting Red Sox fans with 1918, 1918, 1918. That had been the last time the Red Sox won the World Series, with Babe Ruth as their star player. Hence, the Curse of the Bambino, coined by a Boston writer.
Now the worm has turned. Red Sox won World Series in 2004, 2007, 2013, 2018. Yankees in 2009. The world turned upside down. Difficult to maintain equilibrium. It's the Curse of Cashman (Yankee general manager 1998-2018 Brian). One stinking Yankee championship 2001-2018 with droughts of 8 and 9 years.
