300 Home Runs by a team: it's out of control.

In 2018 the Yankees set a new record for home runs in a season: 267. With one game to go in 2019 four teams have exceeded that by at least 11 home runs. Two have more than 300:
Yankees 305
Twins 304

This is a joke.

The 1961 Yankees hit 240 and broke the team home run record of 221 by the 1947 New York Giants. In 1972 the American League (AL) adopted the designated hitter (DH) rule. The Yankee record stood until 1997 when Seattle broke it.

Think of 300 home runs this way: the 1961 Yankees plus the 60 Babe Ruth hit in 1927 for the season record broken by Yankee Roger Maris in 1961 with 61. Even if the 1961 Yankees had a DH, he would have had to match the old home run record for that team to hit 300 home runs.

What's different now? Titleist baseballs in recent seasons. Maybe with them 1961 Yankee second baseman Bobby Richardson would have hit 30 home runs. Little Bobby hit 34 in his career, topping out with 8 in 1962 in 692 at bats.
