Rogers Hornsby

Rogers Hornsby famously had:
BA >= .400 in 3 of 4 years (1922-1925) AND
BA >= .400 cumulative 1921-1925.
This post presents that data in more detail and shows its "percent above league" (%Dif) for proper context.
National League (NL) data from:

Batting Average (BA) >= .360 since 1939: percent above league. And, how many decimal places does BA need? Wednesday, May 7, 2025

BA recomputed to get plenty of decimal places. Hornsby:
Hornsby's 1924 49.686% would be third among the seasons 1939-2024 and way higher than the top righty batter Joe Torre's 44.111% in 1971, also for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hornsby did not have the Sacrifice Fly scoring rule, so his BA would be slightly higher with it but so would the league overall.
Batting Average (BA): Ted Williams percent above league .406 v. .388 considering SF. Sunday, January 23, 2022
Batting Average (BA): 1903-2020 percent above league >= 20% and AB >= 370. Friday, January 21, 2022
Ted Williams had a slightly higher percent above the league BA with his .388 in 1957 than with his .406 in 1941.
