Lou Boudreau
Position: Shortstop
Bats: Right • Throws: Right
5-11, 185lb (180cm, 83kg)
Boudreau was player/manager of the 1948 Cleveland Indians who defeated the Boston Braves in the World Series. Boudreau was AL MVP. Boudreau had a BB/SO ratio of almost 11 BB per SO: 98/9!
Note: Following the previous posts in this series and trying years 1903-2021 yielded a list almost exclusively before World War II and dominated by Joe Sewell, the career BB/SO champ, and Eddie Collins. I fiddled with a minimum ratio and finally settled on ratio BB/SO 3.3 for years 1946-2021. That's 3.3 BB for each SO. The result has 54 individual seasons, including duplicates for some batters.
In the Regular Season, from 1946 to 2021, Playing in the AL or NL, Qualified for league batting title, requiring Bases on Balls >= 3.3 × Strikeouts, sorted by greatest Bases on Balls.

The spreadsheet below and at this link includes the column BB/SO: greater than 1 means more BB than SO; less than 1 means more SO than BB.
baseball-reference.com had Mike Hargrove in 1981 "Qualified for league batting title". That was a short season and Hargrove had only 398 PA . His inclusion distorted the minimums for multiple columns, so Hargrove was moved down below all the other 53 seasons.
Sorted by career BB/SO; Rk is the rank in this group in BB:
